Sofi Goode (she/her/hers), Corporate Development Manager fills us in on how The Trevor Project is serving LGBTQ youth, why community and people are so important, and more!
Let’s dive in.
What is your name and pronouns?
Sofi Goode, she/her/hers
What's your role at The Trevor Project and how long have you been with the company?
I'm a Corporate Development Manager and I've been with Trevor since January 2020.
You can only have one smoothie flavor forever. Which do you choose? Chocolate, French Vanilla, Strawberry, Natural or Peanut Butter?
I would go peanut butter all the way!
Why did you choose The Trevor Project?
I chose Trevor because I know how important it is to have someone support and affirm you when you're struggling with your mental health. LGBT youth are 4x more likely to attempt suicide than their peers, and they often don't have the support of their families or access to professional care. The Trevor Project is here for so many LGBTQ young people who don't know where else to turn for the support they need and deserve. I love and believe in Trevor's vision for a world where LGBTQ youth aren't entering a crisis in the first place because they are accepted and loved for who they are — and I am so grateful to be a part of building that world every day.
What’s your favorite part about working here?
The people! The Trevor Project staff is deeply passionate about the work that we do and I feel so inspired by my colleagues in Trevor's programs: Crisis Services
Advocacy
Public Education
Research
Peer Community
I learn so much from our experts across fields who are united by an unshakable commitment to helping LGBTQ youth thrive.
If you were to explain The Trevor Project to my 3-year-old, Sade, what would you say?
We help LGBTQ young people when they are feeling sad and don't know who to talk to. We listen to their stories and let them know that we see them and love them for who they are, and that they're never alone. We also fight for a better world in which they know that their community is there to support them.

What are the current goals that the company is focused on?
In our research, we've found that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ youth seriously consider suicide every year in the U.S. alone. Right now, Trevor's top priority is to rapidly expand our service capacity so that we can be here to support every single LGBTQ young person who needs us. As we work to scale our staff and volunteer base and leverage innovative technology to help us grow efficiently, effectively, and sustainably, we always prioritize our primary goal: providing the highest quality of care possible for the LGBTQ youth who rely on us.
What gets you most excited about The Trevor Project's future?
Trevor is always pushing the envelope, whether by conducting leading-edge research into LGBTQ youth mental health, designing custom artificial intelligence to help us streamline our training processes, or taking an intersectional approach to our volunteer training to make sure our services are culturally competent. As we grow, I know there are so many opportunities to better serve LGBTQ youth that are yet undiscovered, and I am so excited about all the possibilities to help us save more young LGBTQ lives!
